Weather:  Cloudy with temperatures in the -- 5 to -- 10 degree Celsius range both days.

Trail:  Drifted and soft on Day 1.  Improved by dragging overnight for Day 2.

Stewart Elliott injured his arm on Day 1 of the race.  Accordingly, Race Marshal Tom Charles allowed Jim Tomkins to drive Stewart's team on Day 2.

Quincy Miller was the only team entered with 6 dogs.  He claimed the 6-dog "first to Weyakwin" bonus and the fastest 6-dog team overall bonus.

Day 2 (Jan 29/06): Weyakwin to La Ronge (89 km); weather cloudy with light snow, temperature – 14E C.

Trail:  Mainly hard-packed with light new snow cover.  Willow growth in some sections.

N.B.  Day #1 distance was shortened from regular 102 km distance to 89 km due to bulldozer work scraping the snow off part of the bush trail between Egg Lake and Highway 2.  The Day #1 race trail was entirely in the west ditch of Highway 2 from La Ronge to Weyakwin.

Weather:  Day #1 temp of -- 22 C. at start, rising to -- 20 C.  Wind west at 30 km/hr gusting up to 48 km/hr.  Day #2 temp of -- 29 C. at start, rising to -- 20 C.  Light west wind.

Trail:  Day #1 trail across Lac la Ronge was obscured by drifting snow in many sections.  Day #2 trail was in good condition.
